In order to publish quality Marathi books, Sukhayan decided to start its own publication house. While publishing books written by established and well-known authors, Sukhayan is also committed to publish books written by promising new writers in nooks and corners of our country and no access to channels that can get them visibility.
Sukhayan entered the field of publication in January 2019 by publishing Dr. Nitin More’s Gatra Gatra Ratra, an anthology of poems. For this book, the Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad felicitated Dr. More with its prestigious Kavi Yashwant Award in 2020. This collection captures various aspects and nuances of night and invites the audience to explore it in its full glory by introspecting deep into its rich darkness. The book is ably illustrated by Ajit Chitale. This is the third poetry anthology of Nitin More, the first two being Ekalkondyacha Kabila and Ekantachya Vadalvela.
उत्तम दर्जाची मराठी पुस्तके प्रकाशित करता यावीत यासाठी सुखायनने स्वतःचे प्रकाशन सुरू करण्याचे ठरवले. सुप्रसिद्ध आणि प्रतिष्ठित लेखकांनी लिहिलेली पुस्तके प्रकाशित करत असतानाच देशाच्या कानाकोपऱ्यात असणाऱ्या आणि ज्यांना उजेडात येण्यासाठी अन्य कोणतेही माध्यम उपलब्ध नाही अशा नव्या लेखकांनी लिहिलेली पुस्तके प्रकाशित करण्यासाठीही सुखायन कटिबद्ध आहे.
डॉ. नीतीन मोरे यांच्या गात्र गात्र रात्र या कवितासंग्रहाच्या प्रकाशनाने जानेवारी २०१९ मध्ये सुखायनने प्रकाशन व्यवसायात पदार्पण केले. २०२० मध्ये डॉ. मोरे यांना महाराष्ट्र साहित्य परिषदेने या पुस्तकासाठी प्रतिष्ठित कवी यशवंत पुरस्कार देऊन सन्मानित केले. रात्रीची वेगवेगळी रूपे आणि त्यातले बारकावे टिपत असतानाच हा संग्रह वाचकाला रात्रीच्या समृद्ध अंधारात खोलवर शिरून तिच्या पूर्ण वैभवाचा शोध घेण्यासाठी प्रवृत्त करतो. अजित चितळे यांनी समर्थपणे पुस्तकासाठी चित्रे काढली आहेत. एकलकोंड्याचा कबिला आणि एकांताच्या वादळवेळा यानंतरचा नीतीन मोरे यांचा हा तिसरा काव्यसंग्रह आहे.

The second book released by Sukhayan is Komorebi, a journey through the memory lane. It is a collection of essays written by a Sanskrit scholar, Dr Lata Mahesh Deokar. She has been associated with several Sanskrit, Pali and Tibetan scholars across the world and has traveled quite a bit for her research. Komorebi is a Japanese word that means sunlight streaming through the leaves of the trees. The shadow created on the ground, or even on our curtains, describes this everyday beauty. In Komorebi, Dr Deokar captures memories of stalwarts, as well as prestigious academic institutions across the world in the field of Indology and Tibetology. Dr Deokar has also to her credit a collection of poems Anagatachya Sanjsavalya.
Sukhayan next published two books – Bhete Navi Rai by a well known Marathi poetess from Pune – Asavari Kakde and Gandhavarta by an upcoming poet from the Solapur region Kiran Rathod.
Bhete Navi Rai is the latest anthology of poems by Asavari Kakde. The poems have a wide range of topics from celebrating nature to introspection on life to social issues to contradictions in the scriptures to life beyond death. Ms Kakde writes with an insightful tone that goes through the ups and downs of emotions – serenity, anxiety, anguish, the pain of being misunderstood and the joy of being understood – in a mature, no-drama manner. The poems take you on a journey of self-exploration, pushing you to discover life in its multifaceted avatar.
Kiran Rathod is a teacher in a primary school in the Solapur region. He writes mostly about a tormented heart that is getting over a relationship that never turned into reality though other aspects of life like social ailments or spirituality also appear in his poems. The poems obviously talk about being lovelorn, about the fear of losing one another, about the anguish of being separated, about a hollow life without the love you were anchoring it on, about lives that are shattered and still carry on. He has a unique style that uses beautiful metaphors woven into one another, finds unique ways of lighting up experiences using unfamiliar analogies. Sukhayan is committed to highlighting writers and artists that do not have access to established platforms. Kiran Rathod was our first find and we are proud to be associated with this poet.
In April 2019, Sukhayan published two more books. The first one is the poetry anthology Kavita composed by Pune based Adv. Raj Deshmukh. This is his first collection of poems. Though an advocate by profession, Mr. Deshmukh is a very sensitive poet. He notices the irony, illogicity, and ugliness of life and captures it in a very blunt way, experimenting with the language like nobody’s business. His style that shows signs of Ezra Pound and his contemporaries challenges the audience to suspend their definitions of poetry and brace itself to a new expression and take on life.
